Anthropic on April 28, 2026 released nine new Claude connectors that wire its AI assistant directly into the professional software creative teams already use, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Blender, Autodesk Fusion, Ableton Live, Splice, Affinity by Canva, SketchUp and Resolume. The launch, branded "Claude for Creative Work," moves the company decisively beyond office productivity and into image, video, audio and 3D pipelines.

Key Highlights

  • Nine connectors ship at launch covering 2D design, 3D modeling, video, music production and live visuals.
  • Built on the open Model Context Protocol (MCP), so the integrations can be reused by other AI clients, not just Claude.
  • Anthropic joined the Blender Development Fund as a corporate patron, signaling long-term commitment to open-source 3D.
  • Three art schools — Rhode Island School of Design, Ringling College of Art and Design, and Goldsmiths, University of London — are part of the educational rollout.

Details

Each connector targets a specific creative workflow. The Adobe for Creativity integration brings more than 50 pro-grade tools from Photoshop, Firefly, Express and Premiere into a Claude conversation, so a designer can describe an edit and watch the asset update inside the chat. The Blender connector exposes a natural-language interface to Blender's Python API, letting an artist analyze a scene, debug a broken rig or batch-apply changes to dozens of objects without leaving Claude.

For audio, the Ableton connector grounds Claude's answers in the official Live and Push documentation, turning the assistant into an in-product tutor. Splice extends that with searchable royalty-free samples surfaced inside the chat. Autodesk Fusion and SketchUp let users sketch out 3D models conversationally, while Affinity by Canva automates production drudge work like batch adjustments, layer renaming and export presets. Resolume Arena and Wire complete the set with real-time control hooks aimed at VJs and live visual performers.

Impact

The release reframes Claude as a layer that sits across creative software rather than a chatbot that occasionally helps with copy. For studios, the immediate gain is automation of repetitive production tasks — resizing video for multiple platforms, debugging Blender scenes, or generating starter geometry in SketchUp — that typically eat a junior creative's day.

It also tightens Anthropic's position against rivals. OpenAI has pushed image and video generation through Sora and DALL-E, while Google has folded Gemini into Workspace and Photoshop-style web tools. By embedding Claude inside the apps creatives already pay for, Anthropic skips the "switch to our app" step and meets users in their existing pipelines.

Background

Anthropic has been steadily expanding Claude's surface area in 2026. The company launched Claude Design earlier in the year as a Figma- and Canva-style canvas, opened a Managed Agents enterprise platform, and shipped Claude Code routines for cloud automation. The new creative connectors continue that strategy of moving from a single chat product to a portfolio of role-specific surfaces.

The choice of MCP as the underlying protocol matters. Because the connectors are MCP-based, the integrations are not locked to Claude — Adobe, Blender, Ableton and the other partners are effectively shipping AI hooks that any MCP-compatible client can call. That broadens the addressable user base for creative-app vendors and reduces the risk of betting on a single AI provider.

What's Next

Anthropic says the connectors are rolling out to Claude users now, with deeper agentic features — like multi-step automations that span several creative apps — on the roadmap. Expect rival AI labs to respond with similar integrations, and watch for whether Adobe, Autodesk and others extend the same MCP endpoints to OpenAI, Google and Mistral models in the months ahead.
